Soccer War In France



Daily Mail: Hundreds of England fans run for their lives as they are attacked by Russian thugs INSIDE Marseille stadium after 1-1 draw - as one fan is left fighting for his life following brutal violence during the day

* UEFA has launched disciplinary proceedings regarding crowd incidents with Russia set to face sterner punishment
* Trouble waged for a third day on streets with police separating supporters with water cannon and tear gas
* An England fan, 51, is fighting for his life in hospital while 35 others have been left needing treatment for injuries
* Northern Ireland fans have also been battling local youths in Nice prior to their match against Poland today

Violence spilled onto the terraces in Marseille as fans brawled with each other in the Stade VĂ©lodrome after England's draw with Russia.

Supporters were seen fighting after the final whistle as Balaclava-clad Russian thugs ripped down English flags and ran after their rivals across rows of seats.

Hundreds of English fans were chased out of the ground by Russian hooligans as ugly scenes marred the opening of the tournament.

Fans hurled themselves over railings and worried parents were seen carrying small children away from the rioting, with stewards - rather than police - left to intervene between scuffles.

UEFA has announced that it will launch an investigation into the crowd incidents, with 2018 World Cup hosts Russia set to face the more serious action action for their part in the violence.

WNU Editor: In the past couple of years we have all read the reports on how violent English soccer fans were. But I was always saying to myself .... wait till they meet Russian soccer fans. After yesterday we now know the answer to that.

I have never understood the phenomena of violence during or after sporting events in the "west". The only thing I can compare it to is the Two Minute Hate in Orwell's 1984.

For me, these brawls make a strong argument for labour therapy.

These arent the same "jordie" english hooligans in the 80s who would have given more than they got
