New York Magazine: CIA Director Reveals He Was Once a Communist Sympathizer

In 1976, future CIA director John Brennan was a college student disgusted by Watergate and the “system” that produced it. As the young Brennan surveyed the political landscape, only one candidate seemed to be speaking the truth about the need for real change (and/or the dictatorship of the proletariat) — Communist Party nominee Gus Hall.

But by 1980, Brennan grown out of Marxist-Leninism, realized American-style capitalism was the one true way, and decided to devote his life to Uncle Sam’s intelligence apparatus. Or so that former pinko now claims.

WNU Editor: This reminds me of what my father .... a Soviet soldier and Communist who fought in the Second World War and who rose to a senior position in the government .... told me years ago when he decided to move to the West when the Soviet Union fell apart. "Son .... there are more Communists in the U.S. and Canada than in the former Soviet Union and Warsaw Bloc". Sadly .... he is probably still right today. On a side note .... even with his admission John Brennan still got his security clearance. Go figure.

Sadly, when they tell it, in the '70's, everybody was a "Leftie", against the war, except for you know, the 68% who wern't.

Cheney's memoirs note that he marched against the Iraq War in 2002 and 2003 in New York and Washington.

It's amazing how the word "Communist" can garner such attention, while shoveling arms to the Saudis is like "blasé blasé".

Editor,

There are more radical Islamists in the U.S. than there are in the whole Middle East apparently.

Lefties, short code for Commies...let's see...Nixon in China and Russia, Bush in Vietnam and Obama in Cuba, and the editor of this blog doing business in Putin's new KGB Russia.

Problem these days is that these silly labels are used to rile up chicken hawks and dashboard cowboys. It is also used to cast shadows against people for what ever reason. It is even being used in commercials in the Midwest U.S., by a decrepit Senator against a young opponent. Pinkos, for goodness sake. Once again the powers of darkness and ignorance raise their head to rile the voters.

What do we call the Editor of this blog who has business relations and friends in Russia and China? What are you when you buy everyday items made in China, Russia, Vietnam, etc.? A citizen of the world or a leftie, commie pinko. Get real. Interdependence.

Grow up boys. School yard is closed.

Real communism barely exists. It is currently a thin pretext for a pragmatic group of dictators that needs a transparent veil to cover their real intent and power.

Build physical and mental walls around your countries and heads. How did that work out for your ancestors in the 1930s.

Not so good as I remember.

We are still counting the cost of bigotry and ignorance.
