Reuters: Exclusive: Obama, aides expected to weigh Syria military options on Friday

U.S. President Barack Obama and his top foreign policy advisers are expected to meet on Friday to consider their military and other options in Syria as Syrian and Russian aircraft continue to pummel Aleppo and other targets, U.S. officials said.

Some top officials argue the United States must act more forcefully in Syria or risk losing what influence it still has over moderate rebels and its Arab, Kurdish and Turkish allies in the fight against Islamic State, the officials told Reuters.

One set of options includes direct U.S. military action such as air strikes on Syrian military bases, munitions depots or radar and anti-aircraft bases, said one official who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

WNU Editor: President Obama's options are limited. Launching air strikes on Syrian military installations will result in Russian counter-strikes .... and where that stops no one will know. What I do expect is a massive increase in U.S. military aid to the Syrian rebels .... probably via through Saudi Arabia/Qatar/Turkey.

Why it will result in Russian counter-strikes? Where?

Russia is bluffing, they are no match for the US ... and they care about Assad as i care about some trivial thing. Russia will not go to war with the US @ Nato because of Syria and Assad. If you were saying Ukraine, than i might think twice but not in the Syrian case.

Obama needs to play more golf and give Valerie Jarrett a 180 day cruise around the world.

Obama was no good when he was pressured into Libya and Syria.

3rd time is not going to be the charm.

The boy is a Democrat and has never seriously studied military science. This is no time to start.

Now that we are at the gloaming of his presidency, all the sudden he cares about the space program and he cares about military affairs?

They care about keeping assad in power to keep their naval base.
Of course they will counterstrike as soon as the first cruise missiles hit.
The s400 will take out some coalition aircraft.
The u.s realises ot will not remain a syrian conflict for long.
Yes russia will pay a price, so will the u.s no one wants this its not c.o.d.
