President Obama Defends His Counter-Terrorism Policy In His Last Major National Security Speech

New York Times: Obama, in Major National Security Speech, Defends Counterterrorism Legacy

TAMPA, Fla. — In his final planned address on national security as commander in chief, President Obama said on Tuesday that for eight years, his administration protected the nation against major terrorist attacks from abroad while adhering to American values and the rule of law.

“No foreign terrorist organization has successfully planned and executed an attack on our homeland,” Mr. Obama said to loud applause in a large military hangar here. “And it’s not because they didn’t try. Plots have been disrupted. Terrorists have been taken off the battlefield. And we’ve done this even as we’ve drawn down nearly 180,000 troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

The speech was intended as a valedictory answer to years of criticism from conservatives that Mr. Obama’s break with many of President George W. Bush’s policies — ending the torture of terrorism suspects and withdrawing most American ground forces from Afghanistan and Iraq — had left the country vulnerable. And many liberals have complained that Mr. Obama had betrayed his 2008 campaign supporters by acting too much like Mr. Bush in continuing and even expanding some policies, such as targeted killings using drones.

"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory, victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory, however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival."

-Winston Churchill

"I will say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us; to wage war against a monstrous tyranny, never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy."

-Winston Churchill

Aim and policy were clearly spoken by churchill and the outcome allowed the prospering of free nations as we know them.......the obama administration has not so clearly defined an aim so much as a policy to combat true evil: Islamic terrorism, instead it has succeded in ruining traditional pro American ties in the Middle East, fund Islamic terrorist organizations, sugar coat clear and blatant acts of Islamic terror in hopes to pander to the sensitive world of Islam, and completely hand cuff the American soldier on the battlefield to a policy that puts the enemies feelings above his own personal safety.

Obamas policy is against victory at all costs and in turn against a safer world.

I imagine he was talking about the last 8 years but this sure looks like a Freudian slip.

Now that is an apology.

It is an apologia.

He is defending or excusing his record, because is sure is not apparent that it was any good.

Maybe Obama can by OTV or Current TV.

He can follow that up with being the campaign manager for the next Hillary run or the Joe Biden run.
