The Hill: US-led airstrikes destroy equipment taken by ISIS
Airstrikes carried out by the U.S.-led coalition fighting the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) have destroyed an air defense system and other equipment the terrorist group seized when it retook the ancient city of Palmyra from Russian and Syrian forces last weekend, the coalition said Friday.
“The [coalition] commanding general, Lt. Gen. Stephen J. Townsend, made it clear during his Dec. 14 press conference that we would strike the equipment before it posed a threat to counter-ISIL operations,” coalition spokesman Col. John Dorrian said in a statement, using an alternate acronym for the group. “We will not allow ISIL to maintain capabilities that threaten coalition or partner forces.”

Russia has done more damage than the coalition has x10, about time the u.s actually found a target to hit.
Without being a pessimist, or conspirationist, but I see worth to mention that the two strike that were in the above video, hit equipment that does not supposed to be in such open ground, without any camouflage or concealment. I seen enough example of what it looks like when IS want to hide their stuffs, and want to avoid airstrike, but this two just looks like a "dummy target", to get the attention of an airstrike, and every airstrike that is made on a dummy, that airstrike has been taken away from another location where IS fighters could have been died.
Laszlo,
Exactly. They fall for it every time, but it makes great video for commenters to link to.
László Mikó is probably 100% correct.
The 2nd target is an artillery tube. It could be worn out and thus useless anyway (You only get so many round through a tube). It could be paper mache. It could be a sacrifice to protect other assets.
The 1st target was near many buildings. They could not drive what was hit to those buildings and try to hide it.
