Salena Zito, Washington Examiner: The art of getting to know Trump
In the fall of 2006 right after then Sen. Barack Obama announced to Tim Russert on Meet the Press he was seriously considering a run for the nomination of the Democratic Party for president, thousands of reporters, journalists, bloggers and intellectuals flooded book stores for copies of his two books, "Dreams of my Father" and "The Audacity of Hope."
For two years they intellectualized about his life story and world view, picked apart every carefully crafted sentence, and marveled at their ability to really get inside the head of this exotic man who might become president.
They wrote breathlessly of the stories he has recounted in his books and "how much it told them about him."
They praised his political ascent — "an impression of ease, if not exactly effortlessness, that obscures a more complex amalgam of drive, ambition, timing and the ability to recognize an opportunity and to do what it takes to seize it," wrote the New York Times.

WNU Editor: When I was in Moscow visiting friends and family this past August .... everyone wanted to know what was my take on Donald Trump ..... and would he win the Presidency. I was not sure about him winning the Presidency, but as to the man himself .... I told everyone to read his book "The Art Of The Deal". Salena Zito's analysis in the above Washington Examiner post is correct .... understand his book and you will get to understand some parts of the man. As to what is my take on the book itself .... I have had a copy of it on my bookshelf in Moscow since the early 1990s, and I have read it twice .... the 2nd time was this August. And yes .... after reading it the second time I am starting to get a better understanding on how he approaches issues, and why he does what he does to get what he wants.

"the 2nd time was this August"
That... explains a lot!
D. Plowman. I also have Engels and Marx on my shelf. A German copy of Mein Kampf (my father somehow got his hands on that book), and a whole bunch of sci-fi from Clarke, Asimov .... and a whole bunch of others (English of course).
In Mein Kampf, Hitler made it very clear where he stood on issues and what he would do. Trump is too erratic, so I wait till he is officially in office and I can see what he proposes to do; what he can get done; what he fails to do. In sum: I will judge him by official actions or non actions.
