Reuters: Iran tested nuclear-capable cruise missile: German newspaper

Iran has tested a cruise missile called "Sumar" that is capable of carrying nuclear weapons in addition to test-firing a medium-range ballistic missile on Sunday, German newspaper Die Welt reported Thursday, citing unspecified intelligence sources.

No comment was immediately available from Germany's BND foreign intelligence agency or from Iranian authorities.

The newspaper said the Sumar cruise missile was built in Iran and traveled around 600 km in its first known successful test. The missile is believed to be capable of carrying nuclear weapons and may have a range of 2,000 to 3,000 km, the paper said, citing intelligence sources.

"The Soumar (Persian: سومار) is an Iranian long-range cruise missile. The missile was named in the honour of a city called Soumar, whose inhabitants were all killed when Saddam's regime attacked the city with chemical weapons. It is highly likely that the missile is derived from the Russian KH-55, several of which were illegally sold to Iran by Ukraine in 2005.[1] According to Jonathan Ruhe and Blake Fleisher from the Gemunder Center for Defense and Strategy, nuclear capable cruise missiles, such as the Soumar, were overlooked in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran's nuclear program and UN Security Council Resolution 2231.[2]"

Any missile, shell or bomb with a capability for a 50kg+ warhead, is "nuclear capable".

And JabberJay once more proves that he is a liberal.

"In 2005, Ukraine acknowledged that 12 Kh-55’s (without nuclear warheads) were illegally sold to Iran in 2001 through a black market counterfeit operation."

So anyone could have sold the missile. Putin cold have sold it. Ukraine is probably riddled with GRU.
