Daily Caller: If The Chinese ‘Tangle With The US Navy, They Will Lose’

A retired U.S. admiral said Tuesday that China cannot and will not push the Navy out of the Asia Pacific, adding that if China’s armed forces “tangle with the U.S. Navy, they will lose.”

“Conventional wisdom is that the Navy is being driven out of the western Pacific,” Adm. Dennis Blair, who previously served as the head of U.S. Pacific Command, said at the Navy League’s Sea-Air-Space Exposition in Maryland, according to the Washington Examiner. “There are those who seem to believe in the event of a conflict over places like Taiwan and the Senkakus or the South China Sea, China would actually win or cause enough damage to American forces for us to pull back.”

The editor comment is spot on here. Such cockiness is unwarranted. People who possess such arrogance are generally impulsive souls who should not be relied upon in difficult or dangerous situations.

The admiral should have said something to the effect of "we are aware of Chinese capabilities and have prepared accordingly." Whether true or not this would be the type of remarks a serious individual would make. These types of remarks demonstrate a level of unseriousness that is not fitting for someone of such an important position.

Essentially the men and women under this Admiral's command are in even graver danger than I thought. At best, this man should be relieved of duty and allowed to retire with dignity. Most likely he should be relieved of duty, stripped of his rank, demoted to seaman first class or whatever the lowest rank for a member of the Navy is, court martialed, and kicked out of the Navy.

While delicate negotiations are going on with the Chinese leader such reckless and unfounded remarks by the admiral threaten to undercut these negotiations. How will POTUS Trump respond to this? Unfortunately he has demonstrated himself to be a reckless idiot himself of late.

I think you mean the potus has shown putin to be impotent and Russian air defence systems to once again be less than adequate against even the most low level threats.

Fazman,

A cruise misdle strike against Syria and a naval battle against China are two differnt things. In the case of the former, it is WAY to early to know what if anything has been accomplished. Rught now I'm thinking Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and Ukraine. Those haven't worked out so well. I'm thinking this one will prove yet another unmitigated disaster for America and it's interests. As an American, I desperately hope I'm wrong. It's a pity that some when confronted with bad experiences must examine them and say "hey let's do the same thing again!!" That is the definition of insanity.

In the case of a naval battle with the Chinese, the US Navy might well win but the loss in personnel and vessels suffered by the US would be enormous. A US victory is far ftom guaranteed but the masdive loss in personnel and naval vessels the US wouod suffer is pretty much a guaranteed certainty. If you think such a situation is desirable, please send Aussies to do this and leave us Americans out of it. Just make sure you have a VERY good reason for engaging in this fight.
