An Image That Always Haunts Me On Memorial Day

The night before the burial of her husband’s body, Katherine Cathey refused to leave the coffin, asking to sleep next to his body for the last time. The Marines made a bed for her. Do they have an equivalent event in Russia? I know there are quite a few specifically for WWII, but what about a generic one?

Victory Day (May 9) is the big day. But 'Defender of the Fatherland/Motherland Day' honors the troops .... who have served and are serving the armed forces as well as fallen soldiers. It combines the meanings behind the United States' Memorial Day and Veteran's Day, and it is celebrated on February 23.
