Vast majority of incidents in Mosul, as UN raises alarm about potential war crimes
The US-led coalition has admitted killing at least 484 civilians in air strikes in Syria and Iraq amid concern over potential war crimes in the battle to drive Isis out of Mosul.

Those numbers need to come down. We can't let ISIS exploit civilians and their deaths for their propaganda and to inspire more terrorism on our lands. DARPA should work on new methods in urban warfare that reduces those numbers. It's absolutely possible and should be accelerated and sufficiently funded project. In today's wars its not just about killing, but killing without hitting civilians. Particularly accidental flattening of civilian buildings needs to stop. This is 2017. No excuse for that.
