VOA: Turkey Agrees to Send Up to 3,000 Troops to Qatar Amid Gulf Diplomatic Crisis
WASHINGTON — Turkey's decision to send up to 3,000 troops to Qatar further cements their growing ties, but it virtually eliminates a possible role for Ankara to mediate between Qatar and the Gulf states that have decided to isolate it for alleged support of terrorism.

Because Erdogsn wants to be remembered as the leader whose missteps led to the great Islam war.
Their not being led to the great islam war, the war is already happening.
Did the Qataris fighting the Houthis go back home?
We may be in a war that may escalate.
We'll see if a significant number of missiles fly.
People who want a piece of Iran:
Turkish Azeris
Kurds (Greater Kurdistan)
Arabs (south & southwest)
Baluchis
Turkmen (Turkministan)
The Iranian Kurds have been beat down, but if there were a chance in the future ...
The Baluchis already attack Iranian forces in the East. How much of a blind eye does Pakistan have to this?
Azerbaijan would like to double in size.
Erdogan would expand east if possible. Iran should not get weak or he'll take a chunk. Afterwords he'll Turkify the Azeris (Turks) into some pan-Turkic identity or something. The mountain Turks (Kurds) he'll turkify or kill.
