Can North Korea's ICBMs Now Reach The Continental U.S.?

New York Times: North Korea Tests a Ballistic Missile That Experts Say Could Hit California

North Korea tested an intercontinental ballistic missile on Friday that, for the first time, appeared capable of reaching the West Coast of the United States, according to experts — a milestone that American presidents have long declared the United States could not tolerate.

The launch, the second of an intercontinental missile in 24 days, did not answer the question of whether the North has mastered all the technologies necessary to deliver a nuclear weapon to targets in the lower 48 states. But just a few days ago, the Defense Intelligence Agency warned the Trump administration that the North would probably be able to do so within a year, and Friday’s test left little doubt that Kim Jong-un, the North Korean leader, is speeding toward that goal.

The missile launched on Friday remained aloft for roughly 47 minutes, according to American, South Korean and Japanese officials, following a steep trajectory that took it roughly 2,300 miles into space. It then turned and arced sharply down into the sea near the northernmost Japanese island, Hokkaido.

So we are only worried about the lower 48 and not Alaska or Hawaii?

If North Korea did launch and try to hi Anchorage, about the best that could happen is that it fell short, fail to detonate or hit the Brooks Range.

If it hit the Brooks range there would still be apologists in the U.S.

"Indeed, by Wright’s calculation, most of America’s largest cities are well within the range of the North Korean missile. However, Washington D.C. is probably just outside of Pyongyang’s reach. “Los Angeles, Denver, Chicago appear to be well within range of this missile, and that Boston and New York may be just within range,” Wright wrote.

“Washington D.C. may be just out of range.”

While there is some doubt as to whether the North Koreans have a miniaturized warhead that can fit atop their ICBM, arms control and missile expert Jeffrey Lewis said that Pyongyang claims to have tested such a device.

“They claim they tested it in September. I believe them,” Lewis wrote in a tweet.

The problem for the United States is further compounded by the fact that there is nothing in the Pentagon’s inventory that can shoot down an ICBM flying on this particular trajectory."

"It is likely — unless Pres. Donald Trump is willing to launch a preemptive strike on North Korea — that the United States will just have to adjust to the reality of a nuclear-armed Pyongyang. Such a move would not be unprecedented.

While the United States used to state prior to August 1949 that a nuclear-armed Soviet Union was unacceptable, subsequent to Moscow acquiring an atomic bomb, Washington quickly learned to accommodate the Kremlin."

Sealandia acquires a nuke. "We just have to live with it."

Al Qaeda acquires a nuke "We just have to live with it."

When the USSR fell apart in 1991, the U.S. paid Soviet scientists so that they wouldn't get hungry and set up shop in Iran or someplace. "We didn't just live with it."

There are 3 or 4 chances to hit every ICBM. "We can do something about it."

And if you can't, and the UCS Experts are correct, you could lose the West Coast, Alaska and the Midwest,

Both Korea's, big chunks of Japan,

You'll get to keep DC, Florida, Texas, Georgia, both Virginia's and Louisiana. You'll probably have to evacuate big chunks of the North East,

No biggie, no real risk there.

You'll get to keep Tibet (Well no India will take it) XINJIANG (no the Muslims will take it) Kaliningrad (probably won't keep that

No biggie, no real risk there.

If the Nork's nuke the US, it will be response to a US attack,

If the US attacks Russia and China in response to a NORK attack, the US will cease to exist,

LMFAO

If the US attacks Russia and China they will cease to exist.

The Moscow missile defense can be irradiated by walking nukes in.

Many people are convinced that Norks may or may attack regardless of what the U.S. does. Any BS shuck and jive explanation about how they won't or how the U.S. is the aggressor will not fly.

The tunnels under the DMZ that JabberJay loves to brag about and has in the last 3 months were built starting from north to south.

Just like the East Germans building the Berlin Wall. It should tell a reasonable person who the evil, nasty messed up country is.

Jay, did you bawl, when the Berlin Wall fell?

Jay do you mewl, every time a North Korean tunnel under the DMZ is found?

You either have to be the sickest of wingnuts or your working for someone like the NORKS.
