China Is Preparing To Sell To The World Cheap Armed Drones

Jennifer S. Hunt, Lowy Institute: For Sale, Cheap: Armed Drones

Once the domain of only a handful of states, weaponised drones are now part of the military arsenal of no less than a dozen countries. That number is set to expand after China announced it would begin to sell and export its most powerful drone, the CH-5 Rainbow, that's modelled on the US MQ 9 Reaper.

China has previously sold armed UAVs to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. The commercially produced CH-5 Rainbows will most likely be headed to states in the Middle East and Africa that are unable to purchase such technology from the United States due to the US Arms Export Control Act and technology transfer restrictions. While the US announced in 2015 that it would be selling weaponisation kits to key NATO allies, US policy dictates that sales are to 'improve the capability of a ... key democratic partner of the United States in ensuring peace and stability around the world', and there are guidelines to avoid 'altering the basic military balance in the region'.

Our weapon systems are better but cost more to produce in Time and Money, China produces Cheaper products in both Time and Money but can produce more for less, in time and money. During the WW2 Germany produced the best Tanks but the were costly in Time and Money, were as the US and USSR produced Cheaper Tanks in Time and Money and out produced the Germans at 5 to 1, on the battle field Germany was out gunned. The So Called Moron Leaders that run our country along with almost all of our moron citizens think that our armed forces alone won WW2, when in fact it was the the factories that before the war produced consumer goods that were converted to produce weapons in mass and cheaply along with the armed forces that won WW2. Now our consumer goods come from China, but more importantly China has a large and expanding MACHINE TOOL MANUFACTURING capability. The US produced 800,000 machine tools during WW2 they don't have that capability to do that now, but China does, go to any big box store and see where the Saws, Lathes, Drills etc are made along with the hand tools and measuring tools, you can buy a Chinese Made Micrometer for under 20 dollars a an American or Japanese Made one 150 to 200 bucks, and the Chinese stuff is capable to produce tolerances to with in + or - .001 to .002 depending on the user, our moron leaders elected by or moron people have really screwed up,and when I see that China is going to flood the Drone market with cheap drones, I know who to blame and am not surprised.
