The Guardian: Tensions with North Korea could get 'out of control', China tells UN

China’s ambassador ambassador Liu Jieyi warned of disaster if world powers cannot find a way to de-escalate hostilities with the isolated nation

China’s ambassador to the United Nations has warned of “disastrous” consequences if world powers fail to find a way to ease tensions with North Korea which he said could “get out of control”.

Ambassador Liu Jieyi made the remarks a day after US president Donald Trump spoke by phone with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the threat posed by North Korea’s missile and nuclear tests.

“Currently tensions are high and we certainly would like to see a de-escalation,” Liu told a news conference at UN headquarters as China takes over the security council presidency in July.

“If tension only goes up ... then sooner or later it will get out of control and the consequences would be disastrous,” he said.

China is on its limits, and that's good. That's not anymore "Obama time" and they are, as many other countries, out of their schedule. Sorry.

We have been trying. China wont take its head out of its ass to help. All it takes one well placed nuke during North Korea Military parade. ✌

that is all it takes? nukes do not spread through the athomosphere? China indifferent, as they were (not) in 1950? The North has a very tiny army etc and they will run away? afraid you are way way off on your comment

No fred lol. Hypothetically speaking lets say they get nukes. US has a nuke first policy if threaten enough correct? For giggles lets just say it was between US and Nk. How you expect NK to feed it's army and ammuntion in the long run? Let alone get to US soil with out Chinas help. So honestly you think US will waste troops to invade nope. No I don't want to see it happen, but as it sits SK and NK are still at war. With them developing nukes is only a bad road to go down. It sucks because sarcasm does not go to well with text. Happy 4th fred 😊.
