Eugene K. Chow, National Interest: Are Russia and China Preparing for War?

The frozen tundra along Russia’s far-eastern border with China is becoming a hot zone as both nations deploy nuclear-capable missiles to the area. Are two of the world’s most advanced militaries preparing for war with one another?

In June, Russia armed a fourth brigade in the far east with the deadly Iskander-M short-range ballistic missile system. There are now twice as many brigades equipped with these nuclear-capable missiles on the Chinese border than any other Russian military district. The Iskander-M has a range of 250–310 miles, which puts China squarely in its sights.

South of the border, China has reportedly moved the Dongfeng-41, an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of carrying multiple nuclear warheads, to its northeastern-most province.

I fucken hope so, Russia would be a valuable ally in the fight againsts the Asian invasion. I personally cant help but speculate that they are seedlings from an impact, why else would China be surrounded by mountains.

The question should be, "Is there a regional or global power that China is NOT in strategic conflict with?"

It's just the Chinese finding an old nine line land map showing that Siberia once was ruled by the Han.

"Russia would be a valuable ally in the fight against the Asian invasion." I don't know about them being an "ally" but there is no present reason to have them as an enemy, at least at the level they are now. There is much we could do to lessen the tension that would cost us nothing along with having huge upside potential.

"Is there a regional or global power that China is NOT in strategic conflict with?" At this point, it seems the answer to that question is a resounding "no." This hardly seems to be any way to run a want to be superpower. In order to be successful, they are going to need to start looking at "win-win" scenarios. At this time, it looks like the myth of the Chinese being smart and playing the so called "long game" is just that, a myth.

Will the Chinese bring back the one sided screaming matches like in 1969?

The Chinese are not as brainwashed.

Maybe Beijing could ship in some Western Leftist and line them up on the south bank of the Amur to scream at the Russians.

Russia vs China?

This is the wet dream of the West, but no, this do not happen.

They remain allies until NATO power is vanished.

YC,

Do actually know any Chinese?

Myself I did not say that they would go to war or should go to war. I merely ask a question in a mirthful sort of way.

Actually China claims Vladivostok and much, much more land.

There is this term called in equal treaty. Maybe if you started actually breathing oxygen, you could look it up a perhaps learn something. Small chance I know.

If China will draw a 9 dash line, it would certainly reverse the result of an unequal treaty. Look at China's interaction with India. That current friction is based on unequal treaties.

China will look at the geopolitical situation and the balance of power. I expect them to do nothing. But decades from now, might Vladivostok be Chinese?

I have never gotten the better of a Chinese in an argument. Once I said Tiammen Square. they said Waco. I said look at the numbers. They said look at per capita.

(Side note maybe Bill Clinton's violence looks as bad to some as Tiammen Square does to others.)

Same person told me about the Sino-Russian break up. They feel aggrieved. There are hard feelings there. nothing is being done about and nothing will be done about (or want to) on a personal level, but the Chinese government can stoke that history to a roaring bonfire any time they want.

What will vanish 1st is the organizations of stupid, pretend communists playing house with dolls.
