Daily Express: Germany 'will NOT side with US' in war with North Korea in huge blow to Trump

GERMANY would not “automatically” back the US in a war against North Korea, Angela Merkel has sensationally admitted.

The German Chancellor has brushed aside Donald Trump’s threat of “fire and fury” in a shock rebuff of military action against North Korea.

Speaking with German newspaper Handelsblatt, Merkel was quizzed about the escalating crisis engulfing the US and North Korea.

When asked if she would support the US if war broke out, Merkel refused to take sides.

She said: “No, not automatically. I do not see any military solution to [the crisis with] North Korea. I think it is wrong.”

Merkel has been a staunch critic of Trump’s shoot-from-the-hip approach to the North Korea nuclear crisis.

WNU Editor: The wire services have not picked up the story that Germany would not automatically support the U.S. in a war against North Korea .... but news websites from Russia/Iran/the tabloids/etc. have. What a contrast to the outrage and pressure that President Trump was under when he did not make a public commitment that the U.S. would rush to the defense of NATO in the event of war.

There's a difference you overlook.
nato members come to help each other in case one of them is being attacked, not necessarily if a nato member chooses to attack first. The US might chose to attack first. .and similar as during the iraq war, Germany will want convincing evidence first that this is necessary and will want to be consulted about clear and measurable goals - especially in the aftermath of fabricated evidence that ruined Colin Powels career (you know, the moile WMD laboratories that the US said the Iraqis have at which point the German foreign minister famously said "I don't believe you", and was proven right). So yeah. .Germany will of course defend the US,but not necessarily help in a preemptive strike. This is consistent, not a change in policy or standing.

Time to end this one sided alliance. The US and Germany no longer share the same interests or values. The Germans insist the US defend them but will not even offer moral support in confronting the worst regime on Earth. Leave them to the wolves, and perhaps the bear as well

I believe you could call that contrast retribution.

Trump to aides: remind me to retarget a few nukes at Germany.

After all the billions upon billions spent by America on Germany's security over the decades they can't even verbally back the USA against a dictator that threatens the US with nukes virtually every day! For some reason the Germans cannot be trusted; even when they turn 'humanitarian' (as they have with the so called 'refugees') it is an absolute disaster.

I love the Germans.
Merkel should rule the world
Actually never mind

Is any of you actually aware that NATO states help each other when one of them is being attacked, NOT if one of them -without consulting or warning its partners - chooses to attack first?

Germany's policy has been nothing but consistent. It's Trump who is inconsistent. You don't go around and talk about fire and fury like an idiot.

Germany will of course defend the US in the case north Korea attacks. But because Germany (and England - just ask Tony Blair, who a decade after the wrong evidence to go to war with Iraq is being dragged in front of courts!) has seen that the US went to war with the wrong country which gave rise to the instability in the middle east and caused hundreds of thousands of civilian deaths, they are more cautious. I mean wtf do you guys even learn from -recent- history or is everything forgotten already?
