I hate to be the pessimist, but It's going to get much worse and this is just the beginning. Europe is letting in refugees when the refugees and immigrants already there are having trouble finding work, housing, and other basic needs; most of the refugees are military age men; and ISIS has said they're going to send in cells with refugees.
With the above information, what do you think is going to happen? The refugees will get pissed off that they cant find a decent job and that they're living in ghettos, ISIS's cells/recruiters will convert them, and you'll see more attacks. Not only will there be more attacks, but they'll become more sophisticated as they recruit more fighters.
On top of all of this, the political climate isn't going to help the situation at all. There's already a sizable minority of Europeans that want to scale back on the amount of refugees coming into Europe, but what's happening is they're being dismissed by their leaders and being called racists by their fellow citizens - this is only going to push them into more extreme views. When a group of people feels marginalized they're more likely to become extremists. You can expect some anti-refugee groups to form and possibly attack the refugees.
Of course this isn't likely to happen overnight but is likely over a period of a few years - especially as the terrorist attacks increase. The political leadership in Europe has the capability to stop a lot of this but I for one don't have any faith in them.
If anybody disagrees, please tell me where I'm wrong. Any feedback is appreciated.
WNU,
Yes it will. The European press is not as free as the north American one, and it is very "political correct". The bottom line is the people cannot realize how much the danger is big....until an attack is happening. But an attack is just reflecting the past because it take a long time to organize such an event, the future is in preparation and will be worse, of course.
I'm greatly worried for my own country, Ireland...
We have a few extremists operating here, at least the ones we know about who are under so-called Garda surveillance. My country doesn't do enough to drive them out, often as a result of complicated issues such as them having Irish citizenship or having families living in Ireland.
Ireland has been fortunate to not have suffered any attacks by extremists so far, but that could change. If such an attack unfolded here, we would be totally unprepared for it. Ireland is very much a soft target for such attacks and any such attack happening in the country would change the politics and culture of Ireland forever.
aaa is exactly right. So are you Jac.
D. Plowman watch out for yourself.
Ireland is going to get ripped apart by terrorism. It takes time but you reap what you sow eventually.
