Wall Street Journal: Top U.S. General Readies Military Plan for North Korea, but Pushes for Diplomacy
Arriving in Asia, Gen. Joe Dunford says he is prepared for war, but supporting Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s efforts.
OSAN AIR BASE, South Korea—The Pentagon’s top military officer said Sunday that the focus remains on finding a diplomatic solution to the North Korea crisis, even as the military works up its own options in case they become necessary.
Amid heated rhetoric between President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong Un, the military is quietly supporting Secretary of State Rex Tillerson’s effort to use diplomatic and economic pressure to avert war.
“As a military leader, I have to make sure that the president does have viable military options in the event that the diplomatic and economic pressurization campaign fails,” Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford said in his first public remarks since the crisis escalated with North Korea’s launch of a second intercontinental ballistic missile late last month.
“Even as we develop those options, we are mindful of the consequences of executing those options, and that makes us have more of a sense of urgency to make sure that we’re doing everything we absolutely can to support Secretary Tillerson’s current path,” he said.

Update: Top US military official arrives South Korea amid North Korea tension (CNN)
WNU Editor: America's top general may be in South Korea, but top U.S. national security officials are telling everyone not to read much from this visit, and that the U.S. is not even close to war with North Korea .... McMaster: US no closer to war with N. Korea in past week (The Hill), and .... CIA Director Mike Pompeo: No 'imminent' threat of nuclear war with North Korea (Politico). After South Korea Gen. Joe Dunford will be travelling to Japan and China .... as to what will be discussed in China .... your guess is as good as mine.

Well, that's business as usual. No military move on both side.
Just to inform the South that the US will not attack the North
It is not up to the u.s to dictate if it is close to war,Kim will,by his actions dictate just how close the u.s is to war.
I'm sure there are some communications going on between top US and top South Korean officials. Essentially the US has probably informed South Korea not to do anything stupid. It's been a concern of mine for a number of years that South Korea will do something stupid and get us in a shooting war.

It is not a concern of B_ Poster's that North Korea might dig secret tunnels under the DMZ and if enough of them remain undetected for long enough send multiple division south of the DMZ.
No, that is not a concern of BSP.
I mean why would North Korea build those tunnels if not to do something stupid like invade South Korea. Would they build them simply for mierda and giggles?
Is that what BSP would have us believe?
