WNU Editor: AFP is reporting that the magnitude was 6.3. .... which if true means that it was a major (and successful) nuclear underground test.

So apparently this was a test of an estimated 120kt device. That is very powerful. Who is helping North Korea to advance so quickly despite all the sanctions that would normally slow down any nation? My bet is on China. The timing of the test (while Xi holds the BRIC style meeting) is not to embarrass Xi, it's to provide a cover-up. They work together. That's why China goes out if its way to support north Korea economically, politically and militarily (eg supplying the mobile launch platforms - a major escalation in this situation). We might be at a turning point here.
