Adam Mount, The Atlantic: How China Sees North Korea

“China is prepared to keep the peace on the Korean peninsula—whether the White House likes it or not.”

As President Donald Trump trades threats with North Korea, China is staying idle. Through assertive military exercises and statements, Beijing has warned repeatedly that it could defend North Korea if it is attacked by the United States. Yet at the same time, a series of shifts in China’s military posture near the North Korean border suggest a military increasingly willing to send forceful signals to Kim Jong Un: At times of heightened tensions, the Chinese military appears to be preparing itself for the fall of Pyongyang. Though America cannot know precisely when and how it would intervene, this much is certain: China is prepared to keep the peace on the Korean peninsula—whether the White House likes it or not.

WNU Editor: This reminds me of the debates that were happening in Moscow when the Berlin Wall fell in 1989 and the East German government was on the verge of falling apart .... should the Soviet Union intervene or not. Thankfully .... the decision was made to not get involved. Unfortunately .... if the above post is correct .... Beijing is having a different point of view, and will intervene in the event that the North Korean government is about to fall apart.

It's simple: The US should make it clear that any nuclear attack stemming from North Korea would be treated as a nuclear attack by China. They did the same during the Cuban missile crisis. It's not 100% the same,as Cuba had Russian missiles stationed, operated mostly by Russians. ..but. ..China is supporting north Korea politically, economically and militarily...i.e.completely.

....that's why China said if NK attacks first, everyone else can attack them without China intervening.

The Chinese also said:
if NK gets attacked first then China will intervene.

NK is leaving the u.s with few diplomatic options, China needs to cut off Kim's oil and drag him to compliance, or step aside and reap the fruits of their inaction

That is nice but different. Of course China is OK if the US strikes back when they get attacked first - how nice of them to allow it. Haha
What I'm saying is this: China bears grave responsibility for allowing this to go so far and for prepping up this regime and for providing crucial military equipment like the mobile missile launchers...I could go on. I'm saying: if the US gets attacked, THEY will get attacked.
