Focus on who's helping North Korea, please. They advance extremely fast, despite sanctions and being cut off...only Iran and China come to mind. China sold them the mobile rocket launchers. What else? How can they progress so quickly?
The Wiki site has a schematic, which being a schematic is simplistic.
The neck of the NORK bomb has some interest. In the schematic only polystyrene foam would be there. 'Neck' or no neck does not seem important. I just do not see the foam as doing much as being filler.
the neck would give the casing/wrapper structural strength.
The casing could have the 'reflector' on the inner layer. This is damn important.
The U.S. used the Eniac to due the computations. What do the NORKS have? A PC or server or something that puts the ENIAC to shame. So they do not have to have a year of time on an ENIAC. They could do it much faster.
I would suggest that once a person studies the physics of fusion and fission the take a class in stochastic process at any Math department. Then you would know what you could or could not do.
I have been involved in numerous computer science projects since the 1980s, as well as developing numerous web projects since 1996.
These blogs are a summation of all the information that I read and catalog pertaining to the subjects that interest me.

The North Korean design does look consistent with a Teller–Ulam configuration

If you outcrazy a crazy person you can get them to back down than if you act conciliatory. Psychologist can't tell you this. Their field is in a mess.
