CNN: Exclusive: US Navy ships in deadly collisions had dismal training records
(CNN)The two US Navy destroyers involved in deadly collisions in the Pacific this summer both had lengthy records of failure to fulfill key training requirements, according to Government Accountability Office data provided to Congress and obtained by CNN.
The USS Fitzgerald had expired training certification for 10 out of 10 key warfare mission areas in June, and the USS John S. McCain had let its certifications lapse in six out of the 10 mission areas, the data show.

WNU Editor: To say that this is shocking is an understatement.

Actually it is not shocking at all. The US military is spread to thin, training is poor, morale is poor, leadership is poor, and the equipment is in poor shape yet the fools in government keep expanding the missions to encompass even more fruitless missions around the world that not only do nothing to advance US security or economic interests but in fact undermine them!! At this point, the Us military would be hard pressed to defend America let alone fulfill the other missions that are expected. I've been warning about this for years now. Very respectfully this is only "shocking" if either someone has not been paying attention or chose to ignore the warning signs for whatever reasons or reasons. In fact, I would be willing to bet that every branch in US military has the same issues. In other words, this with these two ships is not an isolated incident.
