Task & Purpose: ISIS Fighters Are Flaunting Their New Favorite US-Made Battle Rifle In Propaganda Videos
ISIS fighters are flaunting a modified variant of the M14 in a newly released propaganda video detailing the terror group’s urban warfare tactics as it makes a last stand against the U.S.-backed coalition laying siege to its Syrian stronghold of Raqqa. The video, which shows armed drones, vehicle-borne IEDs, and other unusual armament in action against Syrian Democratic Forces in the crowded thoroughfares of the city, is yet another example of U.S. military weapons and equipment ending up in the hands of militants across the battlefields of Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria and utilized against the very Western-backed forces they were meant to strengthen.

WNU Editor: This has been a long term problem for the U.S. in this conflict. Arms for one faction ends up in the hands of those that you are waging war against.

This has been the problem all along. The problem has always been at least twofold. 1,)When the Syrian Civil War began in 2011, I correctly pointed out that Assad would not fall. The Russians would not allow it. Any solution to the problem that did not include Assad remaining in power was/is ultimately going to fail. Any attempts to remove him were/are going to fail. As such, an "Assad must go" policy was/is going to fail and would result in blowback against us. 2.) The "rebels" we've been supporting are little different from Al Qaeda/ISIS. Of course we are seeing US supplied weapons end up in "the wrong hands." Al Qaeda and these "rebels" are like hand to perfectly fitting glove.
When this started, I predicted it would take Assad's forces a few months. While I suspected, our support for the "rebels" might stretch things out to a few more months and I tried to warn our elected officials they were making a very bad decision and were placing us and them in grave danger as the resulting blowback from persuing futile policies is bound to end badly, this has turned out much worse than even I thought.
Our support for the "rebels" delayed the inevitable far longer and Syrian, Iranian, Hezbolkah, and Russian forces are now more battle hardened as fighting forces than they would have been and they are now even more highly motivated to harm us than they would have been. In contrast, US forces are further depleted.
Bad moves all the way around. US leaders would probably make very bad chess players and I know they'd make bad poker players.
"The Russians would not allow it.
The Russians let Iraq & Libya fall.
Libya fell to a W.I.M.P. The influencing woman would be Mrs. R2P.

"Assad remaining in power was/is ultimately going to fail."
Assad almost left in 2014
"When this started, I predicted it would take Assad's forces a few months"
This is a fail. Your point spread is from here to eternity. Many times in sport betting you not only have to pick a winning team, but also a point spread.
'The "rebels" we've been supporting are little different from Al Qaeda/ISIS. Of course we are seeing US supplied weapons end up in "the wrong hands." '
I & others got that point from anti-jihad blogs. These blogs made it a mission for a year or more to point out surveys comparing good rebel opinions versus ISIS/Al Qaeda. The bonus was we did not have to put up with a troll! Just saying.
