Israel seeks stronger ties internationally as Arab countries and the Palestinians themselves tied up with internal squabbles
Dubai: Contrary to the view of some that Israel is suffering from a semi-isolation internationally because of its government’s far right wing policies, several political analysts believe Israel is currently living one of its better times, not because of its policies, but because of the weakness of its surroundings.
For the first time since it joined the UN in 1949, Israel last June won an election to chair the United Nations legal committee, one of the six permanent committees of the UN. Today, Israel is “lobbying intensively and systematically”, to win the support to have a seat at the UN Security Council, analysts said.
It is facing some challenges, but it also has some facilitating factors, such as the internal wars in some of the Arab countries that were totally against any kind of normalisation of ties with Israel before solving the Palestinian question. On the other hand, internal Palestinian rift has created “a political paralysis” and benefited Israel, said analysts.

WNU Editor: The entire Middle East is currently focused on their own conflicts and divisions .... Israel is not on the radar screens right now. How long will this last .... no one really knows .... but I can easily visualize five more years of Middle Eastern conflict .... especially as Iran moves to assert its influence in the region.

It marks the first time that Israel will be a candidate for the council. From 1965 when the current electoral format was adopted, until 2000 when Israel joined the Western European and Others Group, it had been impossible for Israel to bid for a seat as several states blocked its membership in the Asian Group.
Israel has domestic factions at odds with each other, the ultra orthodox and the secular Jews etc...but issues between and among them are internal...By contrast, the Muslim world in the Middle East is split between Sunni and Shia, and those two large groupings are at war with each other, externally, much as Protestants and Catholic nations were at war with each other during the Elizabethan era in England and on the continent.
In our nation we have a growing divide between the conservatives and the liberals, or red versus blue, but try to work out or around such differences through a democratic process.

People like Pelosi do not try at all. They throw out names like fascism, Nazi, (pick a descriptor)-phobe, science denier, etc.
There have been calls for imprisonment for not believing in Mann's global warming model.

simply way off the subject of the article and space simply used to heave up same old antipathy
Climate change is murder? ok. You dislike the statement . But do you deny or accept that climate change taking place and manmade or do you simply dislike categorizing such things as "murder"?
The statements are actionable or are very close to actionable.
A 'so-called' Christian told me my Buddhist spouse was going to Hell, because they did not believe. Did I dislike the statement? Certainly. But as I learn more theology and philosophy, it does not affect me so much.
When several TV scientists, former politicians, activists and others say they want to jail you, you take it seriously.
- Activists work oftentimes for NGOs. Many take government money. They are special interests and many have members that rotate in & out of government. They also have helped shape government policy. At the very least they will deny college admission, student loan aid and jobs. That is not that far away.
When I say not that far away, I mean people have to push back and push back so hard that the aggressors never want to propose such anti-social scheisse again. There was not slavery in the colonies. There were indentured servants. It was a small step with one court case that established slavery in America and we are still suffering form that ___!
All it takes is not pushing back and you will be overrun.
The Hell of it is that the people proposing the prison time are freaking ignoramuses.
- Their predictions of the 1980s and 1990s did not pan out.
- Their models are flawed on the most basic level.
It is just FUBAR!
