I have a question; why this eagerness on getting independence? What is Spain imposing on Catalonia that makes them be independent?

Catalan is a wealthy area that sees their tax dollars going to support the rest of the country. If the money was instead spent locally or taxes reduced they could increase their standard of living. Though likely at the expense of the rest of Spain. Their is also regional pride as a motivator, as well as a desire for self determination.
