Did An Iranian Fighter Just Do A 'Top Gun' Manoeuvre Near A U.S. Navy Super Hornet?

Business Insider: An Iranian fighter did what looked like a 'Top Gun' move near a US Navy jet

We don’t know when nor where this was filmed, still the footage, reportedly shot from an Iranian Phantom’s WSO (Weapons Systems Officer) seems genuine.

It allegedly shows a U.S. Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet shadowed by an IRIAF (Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force) F-4E Phantom during a close encounter occurred somewhere over the Middle East.

The clip shows the American multirole aircraft starting a left turn and the Iranian F-4 performing a displacement roll most probably to keep the Super Hornet in sight: a maneuver that vaguely reminds the one performed in a famous scene of Top Gun.

WNU Editor: If this video is genuine .... I am surprised that this US Navy pilot let this Iranian fighter get this close to him.

US pilots rely on tech advantage, an F18 pilot would have basic maneuvering tactics, mostly been taught to do a turn. Id make the assumption like British attack choppy pilots the US cares more about rotating pilots rather than training them to a masterful level. Its too bad i can't watch the video, but i would suspect Iran trains its pilots to a very high level as in a conflict they would be short on planes.

C,mon guys, it's basic CPM
- and the Navy pilot is loaded to the brim in all pylons
( Btw, while the Iranian guy is performing his Barrel Roll,
I'd be more concerned with where is the US wingman )

Basic stuff , nice video though
