Dozens of stories of heroism have emerged amid the horrifying mass shooting in Las Vegas on Sunday.

Authorities say that at least 59 are dead and 527 are injured after 64-year-old Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

But the number of casualties could have been much higher had it not been for the brave few that helped first responders tend to the wounded.

There is another hero: this time in another country: Irina Sosikovna Melkomova. She was Russian of Armenian origin. She died a hero while saving others in the church. Now, one day after the Forgiveness Sunday, the church is going to be guarded for around the clock and 24-hour police presence around the site.

There is another hero: Craig Harold Shotwell. He was of New Jersey Quaker origin. He was the direct descendant of Abraham Shotwell, and his last name came from the exclamation from the King of England, "Well done, Shot Well!" He was the distant cousin of the creator of the United Nations, James Thomson Shotwell. Well done, Craig. Rest in peace.
