President Trump Did Not ‘Specifically’ Order The Niger Mission That Left Four American Soldiers Dead

NBC: Trump Says He Did Not ‘Specifically’ Order Niger Mission

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Wednesday he did not "specifically" order the military mission in Niger this month that left four American soldiers dead.

The commander in chief told reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before he departed for Texas that he had given his generals that authority.

When asked if he had authorized the mission, Trump said: "No, I didn't. Not specifically."

"I have generals — they are great generals," the president added. "I gave them the authority to do what's right so that we win. That's the authority they have. I want to win and we're going to win, and we're beating ISIS very badly."

Update: Trump says he didn’t authorize Niger military mission in advance (NBC).

WNU Editor: President Trump has made it very clear that he gives his commanders great leeway in conducting missions as long as they follow certain guidelines. In regards to Niger, there is still a lot that is unknown, but what I have read so far was that this mission was a search for a suspected ISIS recruiter .... in short .... it was not deemed high risk ....  and did not require a Presidential order. So why did the reporter ask the question .... I guess to keep the story alive and to have the President on record . A report on this event will be released in a few weeks by the Pentagon, and one can only hope that everyone's questions will be answered.

The reporter is pulling the old Sam Donaldson trick.

Mark Halprin is gone. The nice thing is that the ft took out their own, but only after decades and decades.

Time for new opposition research on new reporters.
