Russia Is Not Ready For A War On The Korean Peninsula

Yuri Smityuk/TASS

Paul Goble, RCD/The Jamestown Foundation: Russian Far East Ill-Prepared for War in Korea

Instead of preparing for a military conflict on the Korean peninsula, Russian officials and the media dependent on them are urging residents of the Russian Far East to focus on attracting foreign investment and spending leisure time rather than taking the steps needed to prepare that region to assist North Korea, to accept mass refugees from that country, or even to protect themselves from possible armed attack. This charge was made recently by Vladivostok sociologist Igor Romanov, the editor of the Russian nationalist portal Bereg Rus (Ruskline.ru, October 21).

WNU Editor: There is no Russian policy or strategy on what to do if the Korean peninsula blows-up into war. The Kremlin's focus is elsewhere ..... the war in Syria, sanctions, and next year's Presidential election.

If there is a war and there are refugees, the US and China should be the two nations to clean up this mess, and provide help to Russia if and where needed. To my knowledge Russia is not the country that spa everything from mobile missile launchers to rocket fuel to north korea, but China. So it should be China who bears the cost, not Russia.

Yes I did Anon, which is why I posted this story.
But I think this deployment has more to do about Trump being there and the optics that they want to portray .... at least that is what I am hoping this is the reason why there are 3 strike groups in the region.

It all irrelevant once it goes atomic.

Mao always asked Uncle Joe for advice and permission on what to do in Korea.

It is a Russian mess.

There would have been no Chinese intervention if Joe Stalin had not told Mao that he had his back.

The stalemate was also helped by Russian pilots fling North Korean Migs.

In August Russia moved troops to reinforce it's 11 mile border and moved hundreds of civilians away from the border. There is only so much men and gear you need to station to control such a narrow border.
