Russian gunsmiths have unveiled a souped-up version of the long-range SVLK-14 sniper rifle.

The bullet fired by the Sumrak (Twilight) rifle hit the target a staggering 4,210 meters (13,812 feet) away, breaking the previous record of 4,157 meters (13,638 feet).

To achieve the astounding feat, the developers had to change both the rifle's construction and its ammunition.
