Russia's 3,000 Facebook Ads Did Not Reach The Impact On The Election That President Trump's Adversaries Are Claiming

Byron York, Washington Examiner: 10 reasons to stay calm about those Russia Facebook ads

The latest excitement in the Trump-Russia investigation is a set of Facebook ads linked to Russia, about 3,000 in all, that some of the president's adversaries hope will prove the Trump campaign colluded with Russia in the 2016 election.

"A number of Russian-liked Facebook ads specifically targeted Michigan and Wisconsin, two states crucial to Donald Trump's victory last November," CNN reported on Wednesday, attributing the information to four sources "with direct knowledge of the situation."

"Some of the Russian ads appeared highly sophisticated in their targeting of key demographic groups in areas of the states that turned out to be pivotal," CNN continued, attributing that information to two of the sources.

WNU Editor: If Byron York is correct .... another bunch of Russia-Trump bombshells from the media have just turned into duds. Am I surprised .... no .... I did the numbers two days ago and they did not add up to what President Trump's adversaries were saying .... Facebook And Twitter Under Fire Over Claims That They Are Impeding The Russian Probe (October 15, 2017). This story also explains to me why many are not happy with Facebook .... Facebook is posting data that do not help the media and political narrative that President Trump's team colluded with the Russians to shift the election.

They (Facebook, etc) have crossed that line. They are now finding out that once across it's almost impossible to go back to the other side. What is strange is that no one and I mean no one knows were that line actually is until after it been crossed. Realization of the crossing can never save you, it only tells you that it's down hill from here on out.

Is the Russia thing just an effort to keep Trump off guard and splashing about with deflection of his own. The result might actually be good if it stagnates Trump.

Bob,

Why is it good to "stagnate" Trump? While the "Russia thing" might or might not stagnate him, it does seem clear that the Russia thing has upended and very likely destroyed a very careful diplomatic outreach to Russia that likely took years to put together.

If not for this stagnation, we might have ended Cold War 2 or at the very least the hostilities would have been ramped down. In such an environment, we would have had Russian assistance against North Korea and Iran. Now we don't or any assistance is tepid at best.

With regards to the situation with North Korea we are told by you and others 1.)trust in negotiations and 2.)it is our fault. Thus far this adversary has shown no interest in negotiations and we cannot rely on the big powers to assist us. As such, at present, we have no choice but war, wait until they hit us then hopefully we can respond, or complete and total surrender. Thus we reap the bitter fruits of stagnating Trump's diplomatic efforts with Russia.

Also, we desperately need tax cuts and regulatory reform. Additionally, "Obamacare" needs to be repealed before it further destroys the American healthcare system. Trump is trying to get this done. This is more bitter fruit being reaped from stagnating Trump. America has long envied Canada. Living in the shadow of a great country like Canada perhaps helps us as it provides a model that we try to emulate.
