WNU Editor: It hit me when I was reading the above post from the Washington Examiner .... I have not watched a NFL football game since this entire controversy blew up. I usually watch a game over the weekend, or I have it playing in the background when I am doing this blog. But not once have I even bothered to turn on the TV or read-up on what's new in the NFL. Instead .... I am sticking with the CLF (Canadian football), and grateful that the hockey season has started. On a side note .... the last time that I felt like this on a sports story is when the entire Russian Olympic doping scandal finally blew-up a few years ago. The end result .... I lost interest in Russian sports when that happened, and guess what .... I am still no longer interested.
Update: No kidding .... NFL ticket prices plunge amid backlash over players kneeling during national anthem: Report (Washington Times).

The price of integrity can be high.
I can follow highschool sports. The talent of these young players is real. The cost of watching is low. There for the sunk cost is low. If a player or team goes rogue, I can stop watching. Watching local teams enables local connections.
You can follow the Arena football league. Sometimes it is not, who can run the fastest or throw the farthest, but well matched teams of sufficient skill. Arena league is filled with people who are near the level of the NFL.

Instead of watching football or other sports maybe people older than 18 need to start their own leagues and play sandlot. It is cheaper and their doctors will thank them.
There are alternatives to The Left.
The only numbers that matter are those of actual NFL fans that regularly watch on sundays. It doesn't really matter what "Americans" think, or for that matter republicans or democrats, it's all about your fan base, and right now they are not happy.
