I never got religion. It's basically grown guys in dresses (most, if not all of the higher positions are filled by guys), and you should show them respect for what? For touching kids? For causing wars among nations? For inventing a story about whatever god they have seen (different religions have different gods, and Hindus have several Gods at once, I guess). Meanwhile those guys don't have to pay taxes at all, while in some instances living like kings. Hmmmmmm

Look, I am not against all religions, but I hope -organized- religion ends within my lifetime. I just can't stand people that build gold ornamented or otherwise expensive buildings, with the money of poor people. And the poor people are in the streets, hoping for their next drug injection coming in the form of prayer.

But all those, who truly practice religion, live in peace, help others, I greatly respect - of those we need more. But we have many, many people who do live in peace without religion, without a promised "afterlife" or paradise. It feels to me that religious people basically bet on an afterlife and behave nicely (or not) to get there, always thinking someone is watching. That is fake humility, fake humanity, fake bravery. Those who do not believe in an afterlife and still help people, those are the real heroes, and there are no tax exemptions for them, no big churches or mosques and no cool dresses ;-)

Elections have consequences as does unbridled immigration and allowing felons to vote (Thanks Terry Mcauliffe, the Clintonista with the palatial estate).

You have stats on percentage of priests compared to percentage of the whole population?

I've looked it up. I gone to sites like Bishop Accountability and alternet (probably that is how I found alternet).

There is also a gay angle in the seminaries. Being a priest is very enticing for a gay man. No need to explain bachelorhood, you are supported, and on your off time ...

Do not dismiss the gay angle. One of the Anglican bishops in England was recently asked about homosexuality and it was very apparent that the subject was not academic for him. If or when he comes out of the closet it will not be a shocker.

Personally, I like the Greek Orthodox method better. Priests marry, but the patriarch & bishops do not. That is not Western European, but I am not 'centric'.

And the truth comes out a generation later.

I'll skip the cursing, but you know how I feel about this stuff.

Look I'm not against gays. .if it came over like that I apologise.
I'm against tax breaks for organised religion. I'm against them spending money on churches and mosques while the poor are in the street (they can't even sleep in the churches)
I'm against child molestation. I don't have stats, but it feels to me it's higher percentage wise in the church and especially among Muslim faith. Do correct me if I'm wrong. I'm against child marriage hiding behind religion.
I'm just against all that I know of organized religion. Then the Pope comes along and preaches what -we- should do, how -we- should live, while he lives in Vatican city and is untouchable by law, or any regular life. Sure he kisses a few people and holds nice speeches, but I don't see him giving the churches wealth to the poor. Bill Gates is much much better for the world than the Pope. Bill Gates took care of an entire disease, saving millions of lives. He's working on the next now. Now that is of course easy to do if you'be got access to great wealth. But the pope has access to such wealth too. Instead. .more churches. .more ornaments. .no thank you

The Christian church has alms
Islam has zakat (same concept different language).

Where I live the local shelter is run by ... a protestant church. There are 3 shelters in all. One is for women and children. One is for men. One is to dry out drunks. 2/3rds of the Hospitals were started by ... churches.

Local church in a bedroom community made a house available for the whole family of a special needs kid.

Bill Gates was a rich kid, whose parent could afford to send him to the best schools. Bill gates did not invent Disk Operating System (DOS); he bought it. Bill Gate's mother got him the entrée to IBM, who became his customer and got the ball rolling. Bill Gates is smart. He might be 140 to 160, but IMO he is not smarter than anyone else. That is to say he is average. I read the book (well 1/3rd to 1/2 of it) The Bell Curve. If you say average intelligence (IQ 100) you have to give the year. That should tell you something.

I like Bill Gate's promoting thorium reactors. Not that Bill is doing a good job at it. Trump could do a much better job at it. Bill Gates is also the jackass that is trying to solve world hunger and world peace. IMO the Chinese will do a better job (& not out of the goodness of their heart) and beat Bill Gates to the punch. I am watching Zimbabwe very closely now and will see if it starts rising without Mugabe. The Crocodile will no doubt get rich, but there is a limit or a threshold (We will see, if he reigns in his appetite or if he goes Mobutu Sese Seko or Angolan (Dos Santos clan) ). To conquer hunger & poverty some of the preconditions are no insurgencies, terror groups or civil wars. Bill Gates is ill prepared to address that except as a johnny come lately, who has never had his skin in the game.

Now Bishop Accountability. They had a bar chart (actually they smoothed it) of all the cases uncovered going back to the 1930s. They said it looked like thew downside of the curve, way down. That is things looked like they were getting better. They also said that it might be due to a delay in reporting new cases. People do not or do not like to report due to threats or embarrassment. Bishop Accountability has a valid point. So they said it remains to be seen.

Now, I am not Roman Catholic although there are some in my extended family. Regardless of that I take a dim view of tearing down the RC. 1st they will go for the RC and then for the rest.

I won't vouch for Bishop Accountability (I have not read enough), but I did find their chart labeled "Year When Abuse began" informative or useful

Thanks, Aizino, appreciate your input and well taken. You're right that church members and churches do run such places,...maybe I'm wrong on their accountability. I just barely ever see poor people in churches (as if they're forbidden to go), hence I perhaps wrongfully deduced the church doesn't care. Maybe they're just embarrassed to go there or just stick to the other places the church seems to offer. I'll read up on it.
