New York Times: Downing North Korean Missiles Is Hard. So the U.S. Is Experimenting.
Buried in an emergency funding request to Congress lie hints of new ways to confront Pyongyang, like cyberweapons and armed drones.
WASHINGTON — Concerned that the missile defense system designed to protect American cities is insufficient by itself to deter a North Korean attack, the Trump administration is expanding its strategy to also try to stop Pyongyang’s missiles before they get far from Korean airspace.
The new approach, hinted at in an emergency request to Congress last week for $4 billion to deal with North Korea, envisions the stepped-up use of cyberweapons to interfere with the North’s control systems before missiles are launched, as well as drones and fighter jets to shoot them down moments after liftoff. The missile defense network on the West Coast would be expanded for use if everything else fails.
In interviews, defense officials, along with top scientists and senior members of Congress, described the accelerated effort as a response to the unexpected progress that North Korea has made in developing intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of delivering a nuclear bomb to the continental United States.

WNU Editor: This emergency request of $4 billion to deal with North Korea coupled with remarks from top officials (on the record) on how concerned they are of the situation .... all of this tells me that there is genuine concern (if not panic) in Washington. The timing is also very revealing .... all of this is happening after President Trump left Beijing.

We have to work in an emergency way because the Obama "strategic patience" give 8 years to NoKo for developing all what it need.

i.e Trump did the wrong fucking thing.
He did what jawbone Kerry, Madaleine AlDULL of the amazing autographed basketball, and Obummer would do.
Try to talk the problem to death.
And it didn't work. The Chinese did not do as he asked. I wonder what nuclear fallout from Seattle and Vancouver will look like in the Cascades?
As always, dump on Obama et al. Now tell us directly, since in this batch of posts today N. K. made it clear they will not give up nukes: what do you suggest we do? Nuke the North Koreans? Invade? Or simply keep on blaming Obama that the North continues to do now what they did then? Yes/no attack or talk more, like Obama. Yes/No...can you answer and will you send your family members to fight?
BamBam always made the wrong moves. From 1994 to 2008, what happened during those years made the Bamster think he could sweet talk the North Koreans?
Maybe he should have told a high ranking North Korean that he could be more high ranking after the election and that got a dog-eared copy of a famous Indian book.
Maybe the Bamster forgot to give the North Korean leader the annual tribute of a autographed basketball.

Maybe the Bamster screwed the pooch, when he broke the agreement with Gaddaffi.
George Bush made an agreement to leave Gaddaffi alone, then BamBam came along a reneged on the agreement. This probably scared the North Koreans. So year BamBam made all the wrong moves.
