China Sends A Message To Both The U.S. And South Korea By Announcing Military Exercises Near The Korean Peninsula

SCMP: Chinese air force holds drills in ‘new routes and areas’ near Korean peninsula

Date and exact location of exercise isn’t revealed but announcement said to be aimed at sending a message to Washington and Seoul

China’s air force recently staged drills involving various aircraft through “routes and areas it has never flown before” over the Yellow and East seas near the Korean peninsula.

Air force spokesman Shen Jinke made the announcement at an airport in northern China on Monday – the same day the United States and South Korea began their biggest joint air force exercise, and days after Pyongyang launched its most powerful intercontinental ballistic missile to date.

"China wants to tell everyone that they are the big dog in the neighborhood. " - WNU

China can tell or shout all they want.

Either they have no pull with North Korea or their inability to stop North Korea is a sham.

Does China hold exercises to 'scare' people like the North Koreans in the lead up to a launch or immediately after a launch?

It does not look they are trying to reign in north Korea by conducting exercises (The did so like once).

People are pretty well fed up with the ' "Beware of Dog", but it is not my dog routine'

China is the big dog in the neighborhood. While this does not necessarily mean will agree with them on everything nor would we nor should we concede whatever and anything they may want, this is actually a good starting point for the US and everyone else in the region. Recognize that China is "the big dog in the neighborhood. Once done, it may be possible to move forward.

Very soon the US will have no choice but to take military action against North Korea. China still may be able to prevent this. The US needs to reasonably feel safe. This is the key to the problem. As long as legitimate US concerns are being ignored or downplayed, this problem is unsolvable without war.

Because the big dog has been letting the little dog lick it's bowl. Now that the wolf has stepped in, the big dog is slowly pushing back the little dog. China will step in if America attacks North Korea. I'm starting to believe Russia would as well. Now that China is taking away, Russia is giving. I believe both Russia and China played a hand in North Korea's nuclear/missle testing. What i dont get, is why they would help. If Iran helped, I'd completely understand. But China/Russia? Are they wanting world war 3?
