Bill Gertz, Washington Times: Dire warning: U.S. military ‘poorly structured,’ vulnerable to China, Russia threats
A new study by the Rand Corp. is warning that U.S. military forces are poorly structured to meet the threats posed by China, Russia and other states, as well as the continuing war against Islamic terrorism.
The study, “U.S. Military Capabilities and Forces for a Dangerous World,” presents the stark conclusion that the American military needs to reform its structure and war fighting plans to better deal with military challenges.
“Put more starkly, assessments in this report will show that U.S. forces could, under plausible assumptions, lose the next war they are called upon to fight, despite the United States outspending China on military forces by a ratio of 2.7 to 1 and Russia by 6 to 1,” the report said. “The nation needs to do better than this.”

We may lose but we won't surrender.
I've said this thousand times, the US have the experience. Nothing on earth beats experience.
Whatever any country throw at the US (except nukes), they cant win. Whatever they do.
It's much like the Israelis; they will beat any ME country.
Lol what war have they one is sad they send all this folks to war they vote to do what war for the folks they vote for lol .
Hans, I partially agree with you. ..the US has perhaps the most experience of any modern Military: from logistics to actual battlefield encounters and modern electronic warfare. But.. so do the Russians now...10 years ago Russian military was a joke as witnessed in their difficulties to overcome even minor resistance and coordination challenges in Georgia. After Ukraine and Syria this is no longer the case. Russian military is indeed quite powerful and has recent valuable experiences. The Chinese not really, unless you count intimidating Fisher boats of other nations as valuable military experience...but they have the numbers on their side...And the technology. .. And a population that largely (north an west) almost has no clue what's going on outside of China (very good to feed propaganda to your people in prolonged wars as the US found out during Vietnam).
In any case, as you pointed out, any full-scale war against the US will end in nuclear exchange and neither Russia nor China would survive this. Particularly not if the much laughed at NATO gets involved. ..usually it's the likes of Putin and china sympathisers who laugh at nato.. but their objective is not to make the partnership stronger (as honest critics do) but to dismantle it. .because let's face it, even though nato needs reforming, it is basically US+Western countries like Germany, France (also nuclear power), England, Canada and on and on. ..that's what keeps world peace. .knowing that if you mess with usa you also mess with some of the most advanced, richest and popular nations on earth. This may be a joke to some, but humans are herd people, likely they will team up with germany (voted over and over as most popular country on earth, believe it or nor), France and England than with Russia or China ..countries that despite their military strength are usually quite far down the list of popularity and human rights.. they are just not the cool kids, but the ones on the playground that smell bad and have lice ;)
