Robert Mueller Moves To Protect His Investigation

FBI Director Robert Mueller testifies before the House Judiciary Committee hearing on Federal Bureau of Investigation oversight on Capitol Hill in Washington June 13, 2013. The data in a massive U.S. government database of daily telephone records has been instrumental in identifying people who sought to harm Americans, Mueller said on Thursday. REUTERS/Yuri Gripas

Bloomberg: Mueller’s Investigation Just Got Some Insurance

The Flynn plea makes it difficult for Trump to can the special counsel without inviting charges of a cover-up and sparking a constitutional crisis.

The Dec. 1 plea deal struck with President Trump’s former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, marked a big step forward in Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation. It may also have provided some protection for Mueller against being fired by the president—and helped ensure that his probe will continue, even if one day he’s not leading it.

Flynn pleaded guilty to one count of lying to federal agents about his communications with the Russian ambassador last December. Given the other potential crimes that Flynn may have committed, including his failure to disclose that he was being paid millions of dollars by a Turkish company while serving as a top official in the White House, the relatively light charge signaled to many that Flynn had something significant worth sharing.

WNU Editor: There is a lot of "if, maybe, and definite hopes" in this Bloomberg report. But considering the blow-back that is now growing against the Mueller Commission from Republican lawmakers, the White House, and Trump supporters in the media on the state of Mueller's  investigation, it should surprise no one that he is trying to deflect this criticism. But what is definitely not helping Robert Mueller are the news reports that are revealing how openly bias some of his investigators and lawyers are. See here .... It Appears That All Roads Behind The Trump-Russian Collusion And Clinton Investigations Lead To FBI Counterintelligence Expert Peter Strzok (December 5, 2017), and here .... Another Official In Special Counsel Mueller's Russia Investigation Team Exposed As An Anti-Trumper (December 6, 2017). And today there is another revelation of a Mueller attorney being biased .... ANOTHER Mueller investigator comes under scrutiny: Attorney on Russia probe is revealed to have previously represented the Clinton Foundation (Daily Mail). And then there is this Department of Justice story that is brewing on how they handled the Russian dossier .... Top DOJ official demoted amid probe of contacts with Trump dossier firm (FOX News).

I still firmly believe that the Mueller investigation should continue. But if these "bias" revelations continue, and if his investigations become nothing more but "witch-hunts" that have nothing to do with Russian collusion but are just looking for an unrelated crime .... then I predict the lifespan of this investigation is going to be very short.

If the link between Russia and Trump team DURING the Presidential campaign was that obvious, as the press said, it would be already known.

All USG targeted Trump before election.

If there were anything negative, it would have come out.

The dossier et al is further evidence of the Putin HRC disinflrmation campaign to create a Trump Russia connection.

Not so jac
that Russia was messing about was known by the FBI...any specific connections either was not at the time or was being monitored at the time, and thus the subsequent firings of a few appointees who were exposed to connections to Russia and their lies. It is the easy dismissal of this investigation that reflects a growing solidarity behind the GOP to protect the president, much as a full press by GOP to support child molesting Moore

"much as a full press by GOP to support child molesting Moore"

Beverly Nelson forged the year book entry. So that is the reason Gloria Allred did not release the year book to experts. Now we know.

Demoncrats going against Moore is just another Demoncrat smear campaign.

He threw the word around, but he did not resign.
