The Hill: GOP lawmaker defends calling for 'purge' at FBI: 'I'm pretty frustrated'
Rep. Francis Rooney (R-Fla.) on Wednesday defended his calls for a “purge” at the FBI and claims that some agents are part of “the deep state.”
“It might be a pretty strong word. I’m not, maybe, the most nuanced political person in the world coming from a career in business, but I’m pretty frustrated by all the things that have come out,” Rooney said on CNN after video was shown of his earlier remarks.
Rooney on Tuesday called out the FBI, Department of Justice (DOJ) and special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

WNU Editor: I like how Glenn Reynolds at Instapundit puts it .... to be honest, its track record was never that good, all the way back to Hoover.

There's as much evidence of these individuals in the FBI and DOJ acting badly as there is of Russian collusion in the 2016 election. And yet, the CNN anchor in the video still asks...where's the evidence?
I'm against purging the FBI. Instead, it needs to be shut down completely. From the time it was founded under Teddy Roosevelt, the FBI has always been a political police. J. Edgar Hoover had the capability to blackmail presidents, and he did, using the files he collected on nearly everybody of any public importance. His treatment of Martin Luther King, Jr. is one infamous example. That culture has never gone away since Hoover died and so we need to shut the whole damn thing down and start all over again from the ground up, with real law enforcement professionals who don't care about politics.

Indeed, as journalist Marcy Wheeler pointed out a while back, one of the ringleaders of the movement to discredit the Department of Justice and Robert Mueller, Rep. DeSantis, directly benefited from Guccifer 2.0’s leak to Nevins after the latter published five documents regarding the DCCC’s recruitment of DeSantis’ Democratic opponent, George Pappas. According to The Wall Street Journal, Guccifer 2.0 even sent a link with a HelloFLA article directly to Roger Stone, who told reporters he didn’t forward the hacked material to anyone -- the answer to a question nobody asked,
If Mueller's team is looking into the digital operation and Roger Stone's interactions with Guccifer 2.0, as one would expect them to do, then these shenanigans in Florida are also coming into view. That may explain why this little circle of Sunshine State GOP congressmen are so anxious to shut him down."
