Stars and Stripes: Report: 44,000 ‘unknown’ military personnel stationed around the world
WASHINGTON — The U. S. military has more than 44,000 troops across the globe that the Pentagon claims it cannot track, according to a recent report.
“We are not at a point where we can give numbers other than those officially stated,” said Army Col. Rob Manning, a Pentagon spokesman.
The report — compiled by the Defense Manpower Data Center under the Office of the Secretary of Defense — shows more than 44,000 personnel in a category labeled “Unknown.”
Active-duty military personnel number slightly more than 1.3 million in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force, and hundreds of thousands more civilian personnel fall under Defense departments. That number does not include Reserve and National Guard formations that might be active at any particular time.

Do you have people that are in the military and get paid monthly, and, if so, doesn't accounting know where to send the pay, and if not being paid, do they enjoy working for free and never write to complain?
Special Forces,Ranger Teams,drone FOB,ect. they just wont say exactly where they all are.
Given average annual salary of 70,000usd (conservative guess) that's about $3bn/year unaccounted for. Peanuts compared to the trillions (!) the pentagon just can't account for according to their own admissions lol

Every service has their own form of a Morning Report that contains information on each and every entity. They are compiled at the lowest level and submitted to the one above. There is no way in hell that ANY military group is not reported.
