U.S. Military On How Alert Throughout The Middle East Over President Trump's Plan To Move The U.S. Embassy To Jerusalem

The Drive: US Military Goes on Alert Ahead of Trump's Plan to Move US Embassy into Jerusalem

The first wave of American reaction forces are reportedly already on the ground and more are waiting in the wings.

The U.S. military has reportedly deployed additional troops throughout the Middle East ahead of President Donald Trump announcing that the United States has recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s official capital or that he is otherwise ordering the U.S. Embassy to relocate there from Tel Aviv. World leaders, experts, and observers all warn that the decision could fundamentally undermine the Israeli-Palestinian peace process and trigger widespread political unrest throughout majority Muslim countries.

On Dec. 5, 2017, U.S. Central Command, which has responsibility for American military activities throughout the Middle East and Central Asia – with the exception of Israel, which is the responsibility of U.S. European Command – told Foreign Policy’s Paul McLeary that it had “contingency plans in place.” The U.S. Marine Corps had dispatched elements of its Fleet Antiterrorism Security Teams, or FAST Companies, to provide additional security at American embassies across the Middle East, according to Fox News’ Jennifer Griffin. Trump is expected to officially detail the new policy on Dec. 6, 2017.

WNU Editor: With this expected announcement that the U.S. will be moving its embassy to Jerusalem, I suspect that the terror alert status for the U.S. in the Middle East must be sky-high right now.

One has gotta ask the long-term benefits of this move vs the risks involved. And I don't see it.

The alert level is sky high.

No difference.

On more substantive matters, kinda agree with the dear plowman. Only wonder if maybe this is some of the 3D chess at work. Wildman can yield results. Or not.

All in all, the id is honester than the superego.

That new embassy in Jerusalem must be the number one target now (maybe on par with the white house) for terrorists. I'd certainly not want my office to be near there lol
I expect a massive truck bomb capable of flattening an entire city block.

Producing the amount of explosives required and reinforcing a truck of that size will take months, but I'm sure plans are being drawn up right now. The truck will likely detonate a few streets away from the embassy grounds - but certainly deafen if not kill or otherwise injure much off the staff through the shock wave and massive fireball alone.

If isis and other organisations want to prove they are alive and well (and worthy of cash or bitcoin donations) this will be it. For full effect expect a semiprofessional drone flyover at about 1,500 meters.

Large scale terrorist attacks are a rare thing in Israel, because of te large scale "lock down" on the whole society.

The more likely result is the US/Israel loss of cooperating partners, like Iraq and Lebanon, and scaled back partnerships with Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the GCC, Turkey, Morroco, Tunisia, etc on a large number of projects, including anti-terrorism and regional security,

Increased "street theatre" in many of these nations, terrorist attacks against US targets in the region, a drop in US tourism to Israel,
and of course, a huge PR "win" for alQuida et al.
