Reuters: Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed released as corruption probe winds down
RIYADH (Reuters) - Saudi Arabian billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal was released from detention on Saturday, family sources said, more than two months after he was taken into custody in the kingdom’s sweeping crackdown on corruption.
His release came hours after he told Reuters in an interview at Riyadh’s opulent Ritz-Carlton hotel that he expected to be cleared of any wrongdoing and be freed within days.
The terms of his release were not immediately clear, and Saudi officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
But the decision to free him, and the release of several other well-known tycoons on Friday, suggested the main part of the corruption probe was winding down after it sent shockwaves through Saudi Arabia’s business and political establishment.
“He has arrived home,” one source in Prince Alwaleed’s family told Reuters.

WNU,
"Prince Alwaleed bin Talal has lost a lot of weight"
Apparently the hotel where Alwaleed was a "guest" has a superlative health regimen.
Try being held captive for just a few hours and you will see what it does to you. Free men, especially rich free men are not used to such treatment. He will want his revenge.
Anon,
You don't seem to be familiar with satire.
One more on the photo; considering the situation having the calculator in the photo is a nice touch along with the personalized cups.
And of course the papers near his right hand and the writing and marks upon them.
I agree James. This is a staged photo. I know someone back in Russia who got arrested over a financial dispute. He was in a prison for 3 months before they let him out. The stress of living in a cell destroyed him. The above photo of Prince Alwaleed bin Talal reminds me of that person. Bottom line. The Prince has the look of a defeated man. He is no longer a threat to the Saudi leadership.
And you don't seem to understand the difference of replying to a thread and replying to someone's comment. I replied on the thread. This time I reply on your comment. See the difference? It's neat to learn new things, especially after being a smartass, right? :)
Added bonus for you:
*sits you down and talks in his small child voice* "and this one is called irony, you know?"
:P
Burn unit
Weeehehehe
Wnu , you are underestimate arabs vengeful spirit , specially for men like waled , who are self absorbed that when Forbes meg reported his money , he contested the numbers and arranged for the reporters to come to SA to see his wealth . MBS should have thousand guard his back everyone will be hunting him .
Also if someone who has background in economy "do you see this corruption campaign good for economy" , because i remember an economic professor who noted one of the difference between developed and undeveloped economies is protection of private properties and role of law . Which make the SA move very bad economically move.
