Today's Global Arms Race Is Driven By Software

Daily Mail: Is the world headed toward an AI Cold War? Expert warns intelligent software is now the 'weapon of choice' in the global arms race

* Researcher from North Dakota State University says AI is the weapon of choice
* He claims it could be for attacking computer systems or targets in the real world

WNU Editor: We are still far away from having a true AI platform that can function in the matter that military and political planners are dreaming about. But it is true that the trend is to develop software to make weapon systems more efficient and far more deadlier, and it is this focus on software that is producing an arms race that we have never seen before.

Wnu this is not true. You're confusing general AI with narrow and narrow federated AIS. The latter we have now. Automated target selection, maneuvering and killing is here from a technical point of view. For legal and ethical reasons the US (and others) still have a human in the loop who pulls the trigger.. but it's not necessary in more and more platforms
