CNN: US general: US troops won't withdraw from Syrian city of Manbij
(CNN)US troops will not withdraw from Manbij, a strategically important city in northern Syria, a leading US military figure told CNN Sunday.
This means that US troops risk being caught up in Turkey's military push into northern Syria should Ankara follow through with a pledge to advance into the area.
Gen. Joseph Votel, commander of the United States Central Command, said that withdrawing US forces from Manbij is "not something we are looking into."
Manbij is a key flashpoint in northern Syria -- located northeast of Aleppo and around 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of Jarabulus, which sits on the Syrian-Turkish border.

Is Turkey really pushing the issue on this? What's their end game? I doubt it involves whatever Trump is gonna do if us equipment, or soldiers fall under fire from Turkey. Any wages on the number of cruise missles?
I meant to say wagers. Auto correct is ruthless.
Turkey has to know their conduct plays right into Putin's long held dream of emasculating NATO. It's as if Erdogan is Putin's willing catalyst to dissolve NATO by doing one of two things. Either Turkey forces the US to humiliation and abandons the Kurds to Turkish killings and becomes a paper tiger or two NATO allies fight each other in Syria with Erdogan forced to seek Russian support.
It's not your George Bush II middle east anymore.
Agreed. Erdogan first had this weird Coupe in which he arrested 30,000-50,000 people and now he seems to be teaming up with Putin
If you guys just had a clue on how many videos there is coming out from the YPG where they ambush and kill turkish soldiers, assaulting turkish FOB's and killing everyone and then steal their weapons and equipment and then sneak back to where they came from. Some of them probably staged their attacks from Syria. I think there's even a video where they shoot down a turkish heli with a manpad.
I think the turks just had enough.
Keep in mind, not everything you see on the internet is real.

Both sides are engaged in social media propaganda,
and then there are all the "Fake News" sites and You-tube channels running recycled footage as click bait.
To whom are you talking to, Jay?
If its me and your'e implying that the stuff Iv'e seen is fake and something I cant realize by myself your'e horribly wrong.
If not, great! You found something fake on the internet! Congratulations. We are all proud of you.
LMFAO,
Found another "Moran",
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turkish_military_operation_in_Afrin
Turkey hasn't even deployed Apache gunships to Afrin.
So far, there's been one confirmed hit on a Turkish Leapard, resulting in some damage.
SOHR has 9 Turkish soldiers killed, 7 missing,
Turkey claims only 5 have been killed, "several" captured.
The YPG claims they have have killed 325 Turkish soldiers and captured 16.
Well hello Moran.
I dont know why you keep posting to me. Are you trying to have a discussion with someone about cassualties?
But if you are still hung up on my first post, the videos I was refering to was before this "olive branch" operation and that I was implying that it might be a reason for this turkish invasion into another country.
I think that if you actually read what I posted, you realize that.
And by the way, they have deployed gunships. I have no clue why you use Wikipedia as a source for a military operation.
LMFAO,
https://theaviationist.com/2018/01/17/turkish-blackhawk-kill-claimed-by-kurds-on-youtube-turks-counterattack-on-twitter/
Two video's, one YPG of the "kill", not an Apache, or a Cobra as half the YPG vids claim, but a Blackhawk, the other, the Turkish vid of the near miss.
Oh my god. Just stop. I've never talked about Apache's, Cobra's or Blackhawk's and in that video they use a ATGM, probably a Hornet, not a MANPAD that I was talking about. The helicopter was a turkish Mi-17. The video is 1+ year old.
One model of gunships that has been spotted around Afrin is the T-129 ATAK.
Now go try to be clever somewhere else.
"LMFAO."
