Did Russian President Putin Stop Israel And Syria/Iran Sliding Into War?

Amos Harel, Haaretz: Analysis Putin's Phone Call With Netanyahu Put End to Israeli Strikes in Syria

Prior to Saturday call, senior Israeli officials were still taking a militant line and it seemed Jerusalem was considering further military action.

Russian President Vladimir Putin put an end to the confrontation between Israel and Iran in Syria and both sides accepted his decision. That’s the apparent conclusion to be reached from the chain of events this past weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, after the second wave of bombardments by the Israel Air Force against Syrian targets and Iranian installations in Syria, senior Israeli officials were still taking a militant line and it seemed as if Jerusalem was considering further military action. Discussion of that ended not long after a phone call between Putin and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

WNU Editor:  The military strikes ended after the phone call .... so it must have worked. The question is .... what was offered (or threatened) to make it stop.

Perhaps the two aren't related at all. Vladimir Putin makes a phone and the bombing stops. Perhaps Israel accomplished what it wanted to or failed to accomplish what it wanted to and realized it failed and decided to abort the mission rather than did a deeper hole for itself. The correlation of the phone call and the ending of the strikes may simply be coincidence.

"Iran leaves Syria?" Had the US not entered into Syria the Syrian government wins in a few months, there's much less bloodshed, much less property destruction, and there's much less involvement in this by Russia, Iran, and their allies. Now not only this but the Iranians, the Syrians, and the Russians are battle hardened and wishing for a fight.

Congratulations stupid US leadership for the fine mess you've gotten us into!! I've come to expect to stupidity from US leaders but I am surprised Israel signed onto such a plan as this.

Had Russia not entered..had Iran not entered...and Turkey not entered...had the Kurds not entered....had the rebels not entered....

Had Isis not entered... lol

US intervention has made it possible for ISIS defeat with the help of YPG, Rebel forces, Kurds and Russia.

For Iran.... i dont know why they suddenly show up after ISIS retreat.

Then Turkey started bombing the Kurds even though they stayed in Syria.

There is more to Syria that more of us dont know about.

"There is more to Syria that most of us don't know about." This is true. It just appears to me that about the time Russia got involved in Syria is about the time that ISIS started to crumble. With that said the two may not be related. The timing may simply be a coincidence. US leaders sure do like to take credit for it though even though appears to have been a multinational and multifaceted effort.

I agree, Russia had a far more and dramatic impact on the demise of Isis.
The relaxed ROE favoured Putin.

Well... How about Russia declaring that the war on Isis is over. Well it is far from over, Isis may be on the retreat but they still have a significant amount of territory occupied when they announced it.

And then there is Turkey attacking Kurds in Syrian territory.

Israel bombing Syrian and Iranian bases.

Such a mess of things.
