Reuters: Russians killed in clash with U.S.-led forces in Syria, say associates
MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian fighters were among those killed when U.S.-led coalition forces clashed with pro-government forces in Syria this month, former associates of the dead said on Monday.
A U.S. official has said more than 100 fighters aligned with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad died when coalition and local coalition-backed forces thwarted a large attack overnight on Feb. 7.
Russia’s Defence Ministry, which supports Assad’s forces in the Syrian civil war, said at the time that pro-government militias involved in the incident had been carrying out reconnaissance and no Russian servicemen had been in the area.
But at least two Russian men fighting informally with pro-government forces were killed in the incident in Deir al-Zor province, their associates told Reuters on Monday.

Understandably so. I hope Russians know we wish them no harm and do not (!) support this. But if they attacked over night, of course US military will defend, not knowing that there might be "informal" Russian soldiers among them.

Apparently many more than just a few Russians dead. All contractors. Makes sense. No need for Putin to report deaths of private employees. Otherwise draws the ire of conscripts' families.

The Russian press is even quiet on this subject. Russian social media is another story. I have read reports that a few dozen Russian contractors were killed in this attack.

The Wagner Group is just a means for the RAF to pull the armboards off their troops for "plausible deniability".
Numbers vary from "some" to hundreds.
Same thing happened in the Ukraine, Russia reports it is not in the Ukraine or taking light casualties, where I have seen reports of at least two mass casualty events in which at least a platoon or company of airborne troops were wiped out by the Ukrainians. Russian leadership will never admit losses, other than maybe their servicemen in Syria.
Yeah no one is believing a thing anymore that Russians say. It wasn't always like that. A Russian word meant something. I hope Putin will be gone soon...sure the First half he did well but he got insane now he's he'll bent to start wars with everyone and accuses everyone of imagining things. We know your athletes dope. You can't tell us otherwise. We know your guys are getting killed from Ukraine to Syria.you can't bullsh*t us. We know you invaded Ukraine. We know you hacked the US. We know you made billions through corruption and are the richest man in Russia -despite being on a lower salary than I am. It's not magic.
