OilPrice.com/RFE: Putin Predicts West Will 'Tire' Of Sanctions Soon
Putin spoke at a closed-door meeting of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, a prominent grouping of company chiefs and tycoons, on February 9.
"I think that those who are doing this will themselves tire of it soon, and...I hope that we will embark on the path of normal relations," Russian news agencies quoted him as saying about the sanctions imposed by the West.
Putin's comments come weeks ahead of a March 18 presidential election in which he is virtually assured of victory but is said to be eager for a strong turnout and resounding support ahead of what could be his final term.
They follow reports of concerns among the Russian elite about the sanctions, which have had an effect on Russia's economy and complicated trade and business dealings with the West.

WNU Editor: It is different this time around. Sanctions are not going to go away as long as Putin is President. When he is gone .... that is when (maybe) sanctions will start to be lifted.

Yeah exactly. Don't hold your breath. He thinks the west is weak, but all the bullying and attacks from his side just strengthened their resolve. They are absolutely relaxed, their economies are dwarfing tiny Russia and even the oil race the US now wins. It looks dark for Russia once China moves north. How many Russians left? 100 million? In 20 years it's predicted to be 89 million. Good luck defending your territory when last decades all you wanted to do is alienate and piss off the West. Will they forget all that and help you against the predicted 1.7bn Chinese by then? And why? Because of ego. Stupid putin gambles Future of Russia.
HA HA,the nativity rate for Russia is better than in most western countries.
Putin is correct. The "west" at least western Europe will tire of sanctions. As to Purin's replacement, it'll either be his hand picked successor or, if the Putin led government is destablized and soneone else gains power, the replacement will be even more stridently anti-American than Putin and his team. As such, a properly oriented foreign policy towards Russia would take extreme care not to destabilize or to otherwise try and undermine the Putin led government.
Western Europeans need to understand it is going to be America not them who are going to bear the brunt of any Russian reprisal. Perhaps we "win." We don't need it and even if we did we lack the resources or the finances to effectively prosecute it. We need to end it. If someone feels the need to fight Russia, STRAP IT ON!! Ukrainian and Polish chumps would can use some cannon fodder.
