Russia's UN Ambassador Is Accusing The Islamic State Of Running Online Casinos

Moscow Times: Russia Accuses Islamic State of Running Online Casinos

Islamic State (IS) is running online casinos to compensate for financial setbacks driven by battlefield losses, Russia’s top diplomat at the United Nations has said.

Illicit oil trafficking and extortion have until recently been Islamic State’s main sources of revenue. IS "has been forced to adapt" to military defeats and continues to pose an evolving threat, the UN’s counterterrorism office reported at the Security Council.

‘They are honing their skills with modern technology,‘ Vasily Nebenzya, the head of Russia’s UN mission, said at the Security Council meeting on Thursday.

’Caliphate fighters are not shying away from seeking revenue from online casinos,‘ Nebenzya said, citing a UN counterterrorism office’s report.

Update: ISIS Moves Into Online Casinos To Offset Dwindled Oil Revenue (OilPrice.com)

WNU Editor:  I am skeptical that they are actually making money out of this. You need servers and a place to host your website. Then you will need your banking set-up. Bottom line .... if ISIS is now in the online casino business .... they will be quickly shut down.

Uhm no you can do it with cryptocurrencies. .no banks needed. ..and you can run over onion/distributed servers. ..so no central Server or location needed either. .. BUT it makes it harder on Clients/paying customers. ..they likely incorporated in cyprus or Panama for gambling business ..will be shut down easily indeed then unless they went the onion/crypto route but then they won't get many customers. .if they didn't go via cryptocurrencies, a bank and credit card processor must be involved. ..that can be shut down in minutes

There are more to this then what they let us know. There are talks now that ISIS and other terrorists are more and more using cryptocurrencies for their crowdfunding and other transactions. But online casinos? That has to be that little weird dent on the tip of the iceberg.

My guess is that they're involved in online pornography, gambling, hacking, drug shipping, hit jobs - everything cryptocurrencies like bitcoin have been known and used for years - remember silk road? That was a "normal" dude running it... imagine what a terrorist group that likes to torture prisoners to death and constantly high on drugs/amphetamines and talking about the end of the world is up to. They'll do stuff you and I haven't even heard of. Organ harvesting, human sex traffic trade... All of that
