Business Insider: Here's the hardware the world's top 25 militaries have in their arsenals
* The US is the world's most powerful military, according to firepower.
* Russia and China aren't far behind.
President Donald Trump has reemphasized military strength, reportedly planning to ask for $716 billion in defense spending in 2019 — a 7% increase over the 2018 budget (though spending is currently limited by budget caps).
US defense spending is the highest in the world, more than the combined budgets of the next several countries. But US plans to ramp up acquisitions of military hardware will only add to an already booming arms industry.

Why is north korea highlighted?,junk, junk and more junk.
If the North Korean military is junk, junk, and more junk, then there is no reason for American forces to remain in South Korea. After all if the military forces of the enemy are "junk" then South Korea should be able to handle this, right? Does this mean we FINALLY get to redeploy our forces?:-)
I don't believe for a second that their forces are "junk." I'm pretty sure none of the commanders on our side or the side of the South Koreans believe this either. At least I hope not!!
Of course we Americans are likely viewed by South Korea and their leadership as useful cannon fodder. I DON'T TRUST THEM!! I NEVER HAVE!!
Look at the aircraft ,subs, armour, electronic warfare etc, yes 80% junk propped up with 20% of relevant equipment.
Yes, if push came to shove the south could handle it if given the right ordnance.
If gulf war 1 taught us,anything is that numbers count for little in modern warfare.
