Experts say appointments of Iran hardliners in Trump's cabinet signal to Tehran that the 2015 pact may be doomed.

Shortly before the US presidential election in 2016, Mike Pompeo, a member of Congress known for his hard line on foreign policy, was asked on Fox News what he thought of the Iran nuclear deal under the Obama administration.

Pompeo said then-Republican candidate Donald Trump was right in calling it a "disaster".

"What America ought to do, and with a new president, ought to talk to the Iranians and explain to them, those agreements are off," Pompeo said.

WNU Editor: Predictions that the Iran nuclear deal will collapse have been ongoing since the election of President Trump .... but for now the Iran nuclear deal is still being respected by all parties. Will President Trump drop out of the nuclear deal next month .... no one really knows. The current hope is that the European countries that are a party of this deal will find some compromise that will satisfy everyone .... but they better hurry .... time is running out.

Anybody expecting Europe to ride to the rescue of a 'deal' that totally disrespected a Treaty signed by 170 nations ( the NPT TRAP ) in favour of a U.S.dictated 'solution' really needs their head read. Like so much G.OP. policy, a perfectly workable con is mocked as conciliatory.
