President Obama's 2012 Ex-Campaign Director On Facebook: 'They Were On Our Side'
IJR: Ex-Obama Campaign Director Drops Bombshell Claim on Facebook: 'They Were on Our Side'
A former Obama campaign official is claiming that Facebook knowingly allowed them to mine massive amounts of Facebook data — more than they would’ve allowed someone else to do — because they were supportive of the campaign.
In a Sunday tweet thread, Carol Davidson, former director of integration and media analytics for Obama for America, said the 2012 campaign led Facebook to “suck out the whole social graph” and target potential voters. They would then use that data to do things like append their email lists.

WNU Editor: Carol Davidson who managed President Obama's 2012 data campaign is not even hiding what they did .... those who supported President Obama and signed onto his Facebook campaign site permitted the Obama campaign to access their list of fiends to retrieve their data .... the exact same thing that Cambridge Analytica is being accused of doing right now. But the difference is that while this practiced is being condemned right now .... what they did in 2012 was applauded. But while the focus is now on Facebook, I predict that it will be Google that will be under the spotlight when this issue of data mining is examined further .... I am hesitant to say this since i have no background in such matters, but there seems this difference: FB gave data, ie, names etc for mailing lists to help the Dems.CA, if I understand properly, went well beyond
this in short: don't rush to declare Trump operatives the same.
If you think what the Democrats did is what Cambridge A. has done, then YOU NEED TO READ THIS
Actually it is the same thing. While people may favor a particular candidate and permit Facebook access to their personal information, a person's friends may not. And that is the debate here. That is how an app with 250,000 users can have access to 50,000,000 accounts. This is what the campaign manager for President Obama is bragging about, and that is what Cambridge Analytics is alleged to do.
As to bribing politicians .... that is against the law and an entirely different issue.
